Know-how Events
Increasingly, public service professionals are looking to meet and share know-how,
swap ideas about good-practice and build up their own network of contacts amongst
people who do similar jobs. We meet this need through two types of know-how event
– workshop seminars and dedicated skillbuilding programmes.
Our workshop seminars work to a simple and stimulating formula, designed around
our principle of ‘Measurement, Evaluation and Learning’.
Each event is on a specific topical issue, where you get a briefing from national
experts, hear some case studies from people who have tried out new things, and then
enter a practical ‘hands-on’ workshop where you develop your own action
plan. Events are held at our prestigious seminar suite at the Aston Science Park
– giving you a chance to shop in Birmingham’s revitalized city centre
on the way home!
Our skillbuilding programmes are a new initiative, offering dedicated coaching and
tuition from specialist expert consultants who help you develop the skills you need
to improve your performance. There are stand-alone one-day modules and integrated
3 or 5 day programmes scheduled over several months so you can try things out as
you go along. Topics include: how to evaluate a programme; how to consult and engage
service users; using balanced scorecards to plan and track your performance; excellence
in communicating with the public (where your performance is assessed by a panel
of local residents!) and the principles for effectively marketing public services.
